Positive Psychology: What is It?

Positive Psychology is the study of human strengths and virtues. Rather than being problem-focused and seeing individuals as people requiring fixing, positive psychology focuses on the strengths of each unique individual and works to build on these capacities.

Flow Theory

Flow is described as an optimal experience in which one experiences internal harmony while engaged in an activity that they enjoy. More concretely, there exist nine conditions to access flow, which include: (1) balance of challenge and skill, (2) clear goals, (3) merging of action and awareness, (4) loss of self-consciousness, (5) a feeling of control over one's actions, (6) loss of time, (7) intrinsically rewarding, (8) intense focus and concentration, and (9) unambiguous feedback (Nakamura & Csikszentmihalyi, 2009).
